Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate

UniSource Electric residential customers who purchase a networked* Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charger can claim a rebate that covers 75% of the initial purchase cost (before tax), up to $500.

The rebate will be issued as a credit on the customer's UniSource account. A maximum of two incentives are allowed per premise for each charger purchased for home use with a highway-approved battery electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

Program Requirements

To qualify for the rebate, UniSource Electric residential customers must:

• Purchase a new Level 2 or higher networked* EV charger and submit the application within 60 days of the initial purchase date.
  • Tesla Mobile Connector, Rivian Portable Charger, WebGo Dual Volt, and other mobile, portable, and dual volt chargers are not eligible.
  • Rebates are not offered on used, resold or refurbished chargers.
• Provide a valid proof of purchase, from a local or online retailer (not to include eBay or other resale sites) that ships the item to the customer’s service address in UES’s territory.
• Submit a photo of the serial number on the device itself.
• Be on an active Time-of-Use (TOU) rate plan and remain on the plan for a minimum of two years.
• Charger must have ongoing and stable connection to the internet.
• Install the eligible EV charger at their UniSource service address.

*Networked refers to any electric vehicle charger that can connect remotely to a larger network via the internet. Look for “Smart charger” or “Wi-Fi enabled” tags in the EV charger description or spec sheet before purchasing. A networked EV charger allows the EV driver, the utility (or a third party) to connect to the charger to manage charging.

NOTE: Customer with net metering Rider 4 who meet the requirements for a level 2 networked EV charger must transition to Net Metering Time-of-Use (TOU) rate plan. Please contact the Customer Care Center at uescustomercare@uesaz.com to modify your rate.

NOTE: Customers switching to or enrolling in an EV specific TOU rate plan must submit proof of EV registration.

Customers agree to allow a UniSource representative to conduct a site visit to verify that the Program Requirements have been met.  

Rebate applications must be submitted within 60 days of the initial purchase date to be considered. Incentives are subject to the availability of funding. This program is subject to change or expire without notice. Full rebate details are available on the Electric Vehicle Charger Program Application Form. 

Customers must be on an active Time-of-Use (TOU) rate plan to qualify for the EV Charger Rebate. If your TOU rate plan is pending, please come back when it is active.

Please note that customer care will require a copy of your EV registration if you choose one of the EV owner rates. The Customer Care team can also answer any additional questions about the EV Owner rates or any other TOU rate plans.

As the owner or authorized representative of the Property, I hereby authorize UniSource's employees and authorized agents (collectively the “UniSource Parties”) to enter upon and into the Property to the extent requested by the UniSource Parties to confirm installation of the EVC and verify my eligibility for the incentive. I understand that the UniSource Parties will not inspect the installation methods used, nor the equipment and materials used, and I bear all risk associated therewith. I further understand that UniSource's determination of incentive eligibility shall not be construed as any verification that the EVC equipment was installed in a safe, code compliant and legally permissible manner. I understand an incentive will be credited to my UniSource account only after UniSource's verification that all program requirements have been met and if program funds are available. I hereby agree to indemnify and release the UniSource Parties from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses or damages whatsoever caused by products, including the EVC, installed at or in the Property and the UniSource Parties' presence at the Property except to the extent directly caused by the gross negligence of the UniSource Parties.

I acknowledge and agree that I have obtained consent to provide the above information to UniSource on behalf of the third party listed above and that such third party has also agreed to receive copies of my bill each month. I confirm I am the account holder on record submitting the information. UniSource will only use this information for the purpose of the Safety Net Program.
